Senior Sales Executive - Air & Ocean Freight

We are partnering with an established international freight forwarding organisation seeking an experienced Sales Executive – Air & Ocean Freight to support strategic commercial growth within the Hamburg region.

This position is suited to a commercially mature freight forwarding professional with a proven track record in new business development , capable of independently developing a regional customer portfolio and driving sustainable revenue growth.

The Role

Operating as part of the regional commercial team, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities across air and ocean freight services within a defined territory. The role focuses primarily on new customer acquisition , engaging with importers and exporters to develop tailored international freight solutions aligned with their supply chain requirements.

You will manage the full sales lifecycle, working closely with internal pricing and operations teams to deliver commercially viable solutions while maintaining a strong focus on profitability and long‑term customer development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy focused on new business acquisition.
  • Identify, approach, and secure new customers within the Hamburg region.
  • Manage the complete sales process from prospecting through to negotiation, closing, and onboarding.
  • Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with logistics decision‑makers.
  • Prepare competitive proposals in collaboration with internal pricing and operational teams.
  • Maintain a structured and active sales pipeline aligned with agreed commercial targets.
  • Ensure smooth transition of newly secured business into operations while maintaining client engagement.

Ideal Profile

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in freight forwarding sales, covering air and/or ocean freight.
  • Demonstrated success in a hunter‑style commercial role , with measurable new business wins.
  • Strong understanding of international freight forwarding solutions, pricing structures, and market dynamics.
  • Established network within import/export or logistics markets is advantageous.
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Self‑sufficient, disciplined, and comfortable operating within a regional sales remit.
  • Fluent German and professional English language skills preferred.
