The Position

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. The position is located in Biological Core Technologies, a department within the Discovery of the pREDs Large Molecules Research, where the design, supply and development of next‑generation biologics is the primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert therapeutic hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.

Job mission

We are looking for a collaborative Senior Scientist (m/f/d) to join us in shaping the future of protein chemistry. In this role, you will guide a dedicated team of molecular biology and protein chemistry specialists, leveraging state‑of‑the‑art technology to solve complex biological challenges. You will oversee our bioconjugation strategies—both automated and manual—and drive the design of next‑generation engineered proteins through meaningful partnerships with internal and external collaborators.

Your impact

• Empower a Team: Support and mentor a team of 6 to 9 experts in molecular biology and protein chemistry, fostering an environment where high‑throughput automation and bioconjugation innovation can thrive.
• Drive Innovation: Shape our therapeutic portfolio by developing advanced bioconjugation and protein engineering approaches, specifically focusing on next‑generation antibody‑based therapies.
• Build Partnerships: Cultivate a culture of trust and effective communication with global partners to ensure our collective projects succeed.

Your profile

• A People‑First Leader: You enjoy helping others build the skills and mindsets they need to thrive. You bring clarity to complex projects and help your team stay focused on outcomes that truly matter for patients.
• Technically Grounded: You bring 5+ years of experience in (site‑directed) bioconjugation technology, ideally within the ADC field, drug discovery, and advanced protein engineering. Your deep understanding of biochemistry allows you to champion our technology and portfolio projects.
• Innovation‑Minded: You are curious about liquid‑handling automation and how IT systems can streamline laboratory workflows.
• Collaborative & Adaptable: You are a resourceful problem solver who values inclusive teamwork and clear, empathetic communication.
