Would you like to be part of a newly formed and highly motivated and skilled Immunomonitoring team dedicated to developing and implementing (bio)analytical assays and using these assays for clinical sample analysis to monitor immune responses induced by Bavarian Nordic’s innovative new vaccine candidates? Senior Scientist (f/m/d) – Immunomonitoring

You are an expert in immunological assays, experienced with GCLP compliance, and have worked with automated liquid handling systems. You work independently, are a team player, communicate well, and thrive in a global organization.

Your Role

  • Daily management of vaccine immunogenicity testing using clinical trial samples, including assay monitoring, troubleshooting and CRO oversight of off‑site sample storage and shipments.
  • Method development, optimisation and validation as required, in compliance with international guidelines.
  • Responsible for automating plate‑based assays using liquid handlers (e.g. Biomek i7).
  • Maintain and improve GCLP quality standards, preparing and reviewing technical and quality documents (SOPs, protocols, reports, change requests, deviation reports) and planning, executing and reporting equipment and software qualifications.
  • Data analysis and interpretation of results; present and discuss results with the department and project teams.
  • Collaboration with QA, regulatory and clinical departments and internal cross‑functional teams.
  • Train, mentor and supervise technicians and research associates.

About You

  • PhD in a bio/life science discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in vaccine development, immunology or infectious diseases, preferably in industry.
  • Experience in development, optimisation, qualification and/or validation of immunological assays compliant with international guidelines.
  • Experience with clinical sample testing using immunological assays (ELISA, ELISpot, cell‑based assays, flow cytometry, multiplex technologies) and designing assays for automated systems.
  • Experience working with external partners such as CROs.
  • Knowledge of GCLP.
  • Highly self‑motivated, organized, able to work independently and collaboratively, with excellent organisational and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
