The Opportunity

The team building Junie, the AI coding agent integrated directly into JetBrains IDEs, is currently seeking a Senior Software Developer. We're creating the agent and the infrastructure around it, leveraging the power of the IntelliJ Platform to provide the smartest analysis and tools. Our mission is to ship a product that redefines the developer experience for millions. In this role, you will:

• Design and build the core systems for Junie, including its architecture, user interaction model, and integrations with tools.
• Implement solutions directly in our Kotlin codebase, taking features from concept to production.
• Analyze agent performance and user interactions to identify and act on key areas for improvement.

We're looking for an engineer who:

• Is passionate about designing and building AI agent systems.
• Has strong proficiency in Kotlin or Java.
• Loves tackling complex, open-ended problems in a fast-paced product environment.
• Has strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

We'd be especially thrilled if you have:

• Practical experience building and shipping ML-based applications.
• Experience with the IntelliJ Platform.
• Experience with evaluation pipelines for agentic AI systems.
