Senior Software Engineer / AI Enabler (Germany)
My client is the market leader and one of Europe's largest digital platforms in their sector. They are defining the future of their industry. They are an established business with over 30 million users—and they are committed to becoming AI‑first . They thrive on complexity and are not looking for simple Proofs‑of‑Concept; they are integrating Generative AI to multiply the impact of their entire Product & Technology organization, challenging how software is built at scale. If candidates are driven by curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, this is their chance to shape the next era of the platform.
The Opportunity: An AI Multiplier Role
This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role for a seasoned Software Engineer who is personally excellent at leveraging GenAI tools (like Copilot, Cursor, etc.) and is ready to turn that personal edge into organisational superpower . They will transition from being an expert user to an AI Enabler —a force multiplying their engineering productivity and raising the bar for quality across large, existing codebases.
What They Need Candidates to Do:
- Hands‑On Development: Join a core product team and work directly on their primary codebases (e.g., TypeScript/Node/Next.js or Java/Spring Boot ), applying an AI‑first mindset to the full "you‑build‑it‑you‑run‑it" lifecycle.
- Build AI Tools: Design, build, and evolve AI‑powered internal tools and workflows (assistants for coding, reviews, documentation) that engineers across the organisation rely on daily.
- LLM Integration: Integrate commercial LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI) into production applications and internal systems, mastering techniques like Prompt Engineering, RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), and Function Calling .
- Cultural Leadership: Act as a multiplier and culture driver—coach teams on effective GenAI usage, establish best practices, and ensure guardrails are in place to make usage safe and compliant at scale.
- Experimentation: Run data‑informed experiments with teams to discover what GenAI practices work best in their context and transform successful approaches into repeatable standards and playbooks.
What They Need Candidates to Bring:
- Senior Engineering Depth: 5+ years of hands‑on experience building and maintaining production systems, ideally with TypeScript/Node.js/Next.js or Java/Spring Boot on a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP ).
- GenAI Proficiency: Demonstrated personal excellence in using GenAI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codeium) to significantly boost development speed, quality, refactoring, and documentation.
- LLM Integration Experience: Proven ability to integrate and deploy solutions using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into applications or internal tools.
- Influence & Drive: Strong communication and influencing skills necessary to introduce new practices, align stakeholders, handle skepticism, and drive organisational change.
- Pragmatic Curiosity: Growth‑oriented mindset with a pragmatic view of GenAI—understanding its limitations and knowing how to implement guardrails for sustainable adoption.
Why Join the Client?
- Impact: Directly influence the technical roadmap and culture of a market leader.
- Flexibility: Hybrid model with options to work from Munich, Düsseldorf, or remotely from Canada .
- Culture: Diverse community with tools and support to continuously learn and grow.
