Senior Software Engineer

Founding Software Engineer | DeepTech Startup | Greenfield Digital Twin Platform | Cologne (Hybrid) AI Futures have been retained to find a Founding Software Engineer for a DeepTech scaleup that recently raised €5M in Series A funding to accelerate the development of its next-generation data and computation platform. Built entirely in TypeScript, the platform powers a Digital Twin engine for real-time modelling, simulation, and decision support; driving measurable ecological and operational outcomes across complex enterprise systems. This is a hands-on, high-impact founding role, working closely with the core team to architect, build, and scale the product from the ground up, laying the foundations for a globally scalable and sustainable platform. Hybrid: 4 days per week onsite in ColognePackage: Up to €100k salary + VSOP The RoleDesign and build the platform’s TypeScript-based data modelling and computation layer that powers Digital Twin simulations.Develop scalable, modular architecture to handle complex, real-time enterprise data workflows.Collaborate across backend and frontend boundaries to deliver high-performance, sustainable system design.Prototype rapidly, balancing engineering precision with startup agility.Establish best practices for code quality, testing, and reliability within a growing DeepTech engineering team. The Candidate2+ years of experience in software or full-stack engineering, ideally in data-heavy environments.Expert-level TypeScript skills with strong modern JavaScript fundamentals.Experience with React.js, Next.js, or Solid.js for frontend architecture.Strong understanding of SQL, data modelling, and scalable system design.Interest in Digital Twin technologies and improving ecological or operational outcomes through software.Experience or enthusiasm for UX/UI design a bonusLanguages: German (English a plus).
