We are seeking a Senior Vice President to lead BNY’s IFRS Accounting & Financial Reporting function for special funds and segregated mandates in Germany, and to oversee the Pillar II reporting team. This senior leader will own end‑to‑end IFRS accounting operations, the financial statement lifecycle, notes disclosures, and control frameworks, while establishing and governing Pillar II reporting (risk and capital governance) across the portfolio. The role partners closely with Product, Operations, Risk/Compliance, Legal, Technology, and Governance to deliver high‑quality, timely, and compliant outcomes.
Impact Areas
- Own end‑to‑end IFRS accounting operations for special funds and segregated mandates, including sub‑ledger design, GL reconciliations (GL1/GL2), and consistency checks between HGB (German GAAP) and IFRS.
- Lead SPPI assessments and govern the ECL process (stage classifications, monthly booking, disposals/paydowns, year‑end close‑out) with strong plausibility and technical validation controls.
- Direct fair value hierarchy classification (Levels 1/2/3) and IFRS 7/13 notes disclosures; ensure timely receipt, processing, and system integration of classification data.
- Intercompany transaction governance: Establish procedures and quality assurance for intercompany transfers and postings with strong documentation and reconciliations.
- Run monthly valuations and statement preparation in IFRS configurations; oversee accrued interest, amortisation, currency valuations, and derivative processing steps (manual and automated).
- Coordinate trade‑date accounting activities at quarter‑end; manage posting blocks; deliver posted transactions to downstream ledgers and reporting systems.
- Drive quality assurance: sub‑ledger/GL reconciliations, validation reconciliations, ex‑ante/ex‑post tests, exception management, corrective postings to receiving systems.
- Govern Pillar II reporting processes: define scope, controls, documentation standards, and governance forums; oversee risk assessments and stress scenarios; drive timely submissions and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead planning, production calendars, shell updates, four‑eye reviews, disclosure checklists, and audit coordination for annual, semi‑annual, and quarterly IFRS statements.
- Partner with Product and Regulatory Operations to implement regulatory changes; translate evolving IFRS/regulatory requirements into processes, controls, and system changes.
- Interface management: oversee inbound/outbound data deliveries and ensure timeliness and completeness across interfaces (e.g., holdings, transactions, ECL inputs, posting records).
- Metrics and continuous improvement: track timeliness, quality, and control effectiveness; run post‑cycle reviews; prioritise remediation and automation opportunities.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive experience in IFRS accounting and financial reporting within asset management, fund administration, or securities servicing; 5+ years leading teams.
- Deep technical expertise across IFRS standards relevant to funds, including IFRS 9 (SPPI/ECL), IFRS 7 (financial instruments disclosures), IFRS 13 (fair value measurement).
- Strong understanding of the German market and regulatory context; experience aligning IFRS setups with HGB (German GAAP) and local practices.
- Demonstrated mastery of SPPI classification and ECL governance, including technical validation, booking, disposals/paydowns, and year‑end entries.
- Experience with Pillar II reporting frameworks (e.g., Solvency II Pillar II/ICAAP/ILAAP), including control design, documentation, stress testing, and executive reporting.
- Proven delivery ownership with end‑to‑end planning, prioritisation, and stakeholder management (custodians, vendors, internal teams).
- Strong process and technology affinity: data management, interfaces/portals, CSV/Excel; familiarity with leading accounting/reporting platforms and data marts.
- Excellent analytical judgment and written communication; capable of drafting technical position papers and governance documentation.
- Fluency in German and English (spoken and written).
