About Berlin‑Brandenburg Airport (BER)

The role is based at Berlin‑Brandenburg Airport (BER), one of Europe’s most important transport hubs, where you’ll delight travellers with donuts and specialty coffee in a dynamic, international workplace.

The airport store operates from early mornings through late evenings, including weekends and public holidays – flexibility with shift work is essential. Opening shifts start as early as 4:00 am and closing shifts last until 10:00 pm. There’s no classic 9‑to‑5 here, but in return you’ll experience real variety: flight schedules, rush hours and an international crowd ensure that no two days are the same.

All team members must apply for an airport ID badge (Flughafenausweis) and a security clearance according to §7 LuftSiG. We fully support you throughout the entire process.

The airport store will open this summer, and we’d love for you to start with us at one of our other shops in the meantime.

Getting to Berlin‑Brandenburg Airport (BER) from the city is super easy thanks to the new fast train connections:

  • From Berlin Südkreuz to BER: it takes about 14 minutes on the Airport Express or regional trains, super quick!
  • From Berlin Ostkreuz to BER: you can reach the airport in roughly 19–20 minutes on direct regional train services.

What’s the job?

As Shift Leader you ensure that the shop runs smoothly and well, even on busy weekend days, and that the team works together effectively.

During the shift you are responsible for enforcing our work safety and health procedures and ensuring our high product quality and customer service standards are met. You are the point of contact for customer requests/complaints, coordinate the team on shift and solve operational issues as well as troubleshoot problems.

Examples include: POS system issues, customer dissatisfaction, late donuts, packaging shortages, or high customer flow causing stress. You keep a cool head and solve the issue!

You will receive extra training on the POS system, ordering procedure, basic scheduling and shift planning, and a guide for trouble‑shooting.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure the donuts look amazing and the coffee tastes delicious.
  • Lead by example by serving every customer with a smile.
  • Be in charge of inventory counting on inventory day.
  • Ensure everyone on shift works together smoothly, and breaks are coordinated according to customer flow.
  • Make sure all cleaning is done and the compliance form is filled in.
  • Motivate the rest of the team when things get stressful.
  • Take the lead on the cleaning, opening and closing procedures.
  • Train and onboard new team members on their shifts.

About you

  • You have extensive experience in the gastronomy sector; previous experience with specialty coffee and a leadership position is a plus.
  • You love customer service and contact with the team.
  • You have a health certificate (food hygiene certificate from the health department – can be caught up before you start).
  • You have English and German language skills.
  • You have an eye for detail.
  • You keep a cool head even in stressful situations and act solution‑oriented.
  • You are available to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • You’re looking for a long‑term position and feel excited about working in the lively, international atmosphere of an airport.
  • Willingness to complete the airport security clearance process, including paperwork, background check (§7 LuftSiG), airport safety quiz, and in‑person appointments for your airport ID badge (we’ll fully support you).
