Shift Lead Technician, Critical Environment

• Supervise, coordinate and support the site‑based engineering team, including internal and MEP responsibilities.
• Operate all systems within the facility in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including HV & LV switching operations).
• Control all activities related to the technical and efficient operation of installed building systems, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
• Plan and support specialist vendor work, ensuring related change‑management approval is submitted for all critical works.
• Ensure specialist vendor worksheets are signed off and quality of work is inspected; communicate recommendations to the engineering team.
• Provide backup engineering relief cover during emergencies, which may require temporary shift work.
• Ensure the team and specialist vendors comply with contractual service level agreements (SLAs).
• Use the Corrigo CMMS system to manage MEP PPM, reactive and corrective work orders, ensuring accurate completion within SLAs.
• Attend weekly operations meetings and client meetings as requested.
• Highlight engineering risk and report on critical system availability daily.
• Complete shift handover reports, noting significant events or activities.
• Control critical spares, maintain site stock register and procure spares from suppliers.
• Compile critical incident and near‑miss reporting and prepare after‑action reviews.
• Escalate critical equipment operational issues immediately, in line with local site processes.
• Review specialist vendor service reports and follow up on recommendations.
• Produce site‑specific SOP/MOP/EOP.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in delivering critical infrastructure scenario training and leading the development of engineers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with HSE policy and procedures.
• Escalate specialist vendor performance issues, detailing areas of concern.
• Communicate technical / legislative updates to all team members.
• Maintain minimum levels of onsite resourcing, supporting suitable cover/replacement.
• Liaise with the supply chain when ordering M&E components for remedial works.
• Drive a positive culture in the team, supporting personal development and training.
• Coach new employees through the onboarding process.
• Participate in engineering quality assurance, auditing completed work orders to maintain quality standards.
• Complete all responsibilities in line with the site‑based MEP responsibilities matrix.

Personal Specification

• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in critical environments such as banking HQ and data centres.
• Authorised Person (High Voltage & Low Voltage rojais.
• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering HNC or HND (or equivalent).
  
• C&G Part 1 & 2, equivalent or exceeds \
• 18th Edition IET Wiring and Installation
• C&G 2391 Inspection, Test and Certification (or equivalent) and BS 7671 (Current Edition)
• Strong communication skills to engage with all staff levels
• Ability to lead, motivate and direct a small team of engineers
• Willingness to attend on‑site and off‑site training, including nights away from home
• Capacity to comprehend and act on verbal and written instructions
• Enthusiasm and pro‑activity, diligence and alertness with a commitment to internal training programmes
