Software Engineer- Earth Observation

About the job
We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer with a strong background in Remote Sensing to join our 7-person team. You would help us build geospatial software solutions, focusing on satellite imaging. We are looking for a highly self-motivated individual to help us with our growing ordering API and GUI.
This is not a fully remote position, some presence in the office in Munich will be required.

Requirements:

• 3+ years working experience with Node.js or equivalents.
• Knowledge in the field of astrophysics OR background in mission planning.
• 3+ years working experience with Python.
• Citizenship restricted to EU member states, NATO member states, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, or Switzerland.
• Working proficiency in English.

Nice to have:

• Good knowledge of opensource geospatial libraries for Python, such as astropy, gdal/ogr, geopandas, shapely, rasterio, pyqgis
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Experience in designing and implementing data driven algorithms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and extend our orbital mechanics-based feasibility tool for satellite imaging.
• Assist in extending our online ordering platform, consisting of an API and GUI.
• Work on REST endpoints and our typescript based back-end.
