eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. We are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d)- Backend.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and deploy services that enable professional use of quantum computing.
Build APIs and data interfaces to integrate various hardware components of our quantum computing stack.
Ensure scalability and maintainability of backend systems, adhering to high software engineering standards.
Optimise data processing pipelines for performance and reliability.
Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system robustness.
Identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities in backend systems.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software architecture with hardware requirements.
Document software designs and maintain high code quality through code reviews and best practices.
Interest in translating physical principles into practical solutions.

Required Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
3+ years of professional experience in developing portable, scalable control systems.
Strong programming skills in Python writing production-ready code.
Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and data modelling.
Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins).
Good grasp of software architecture and design patterns for scalable systems.
Proficiency in version control (Git).
Fluent communication and writing skills in English.
Agile workflow proficiency.
Creative mindset and enjoyment working in a multicultural and interdisciplinary team.

We value:

Master’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
Background in robotics/aviation/automotive.
Exposure to high-performance computing, quantum systems, or other advanced hardware technologies.
Experience in programmatic device control (SCPI, MODBUS, etc. over serial, USB, TCP).
Experience in ARTIQ.
Experience with oscilloscopes or emulators for software debugging.
