Role Overview

We are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. This role involves designing innovative, cost-effective, and energy-efficient HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with local norms and Tesla standards. You will work on-site in Grünheide (Mark), collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

1. Work with the mechanical design team on-site in Grünheide (Mark).
2. Deliver LPH2 to LPH5 designs, coordinate with other disciplines, and adhere to standards.
3. Coordinate with engineers, delegate tasks, and review designs from external consultants.
4. Engage in technical discussions and negotiations with suppliers and procurement.
5. Manage project schedules to meet production deadlines.
6. Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors.
7. Create detailed construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, following VDI 6026 LPH 5 standards.
8. Coordinate with various departments including design management, procurement, construction, and quality control.
9. Understand manufacturing needs and optimize operational efficiency.
10. Identify opportunities for innovation and OPEX reduction, supporting business cases with data analysis.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering or German Diplom Ingenieur.
• 7+ years of experience in HVAC system design, including ventilation, dust collection, VOC abatement, smoke exhaust, clean rooms, and related water systems.
• Fluent in English; German proficiency is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in agile teams.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, especially DIN/VDI/AWSV.
• Experience with thermal calculation software like HAP and hydraulic calculations with Pipeflo or similar.
• Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
• Experience with project management tools like Azure and Aconex.
