Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Mannheim, DE.

About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be a key player in developing and applying processes and equipment for field applications. You will support ongoing and future projects and report directly to the Project Director. Your main responsibility is to assist the Project Manager with planning, cost estimation, status reporting, and improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate and plan a dismantling project from an engineering perspective.
• Utilize and adapt existing technology from previous projects to specify, design, manufacture and apply equipment.
• Prepare product documentation in accordance with applicable rules and regulations to facilitate licensing by the customer and authorities.
• Plan work in collaboration with the operations team to reduce inefficiencies and optimize overall project performance, including development documentation for field implementation such as procedures.
• Process and monitor changes following an integrated change control process.
• Support the Project Manager in preparing project cost expenditure forecasts and progress evaluations/projections.
• Support the Project Manager in project communications, ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed of status.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work.
• Interface with other support organizations such as Supply Chain Management, suppliers, invoicing and accounting departments, sales, and quality.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Preferred advanced degree.
• Experience: 5–10 years of engineering work in the nuclear industry.
• Languages: Fluent English and German required.
• Soft Skills: strong team working and communication abilities.
