Conductor is seeking a seasoned, product‑minded software engineer with distributed systems design experience to power the core pillar of our SaaS applications. The individual plays a crucial role in our core layer's design, development, and maintenance. We are looking for a candidate with a strong delivery‑and‑problem‑solving mindset and a can‑do attitude to shape the future of our architecture. The individual will work with a stack of technologies, such as Kubernetes, AWS (RDS, SNS / SQS, S3), Java, Spring Framework, GraphQL Federation, and Kafka.

Senior Software Engineer (f / m / d)

(Hybrid in Berlin or remote in Germany / Full‑time / Permanent Contract)

Your Tasks :

• Collaborate with application developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, design and implement solutions that meet business needs, and execute on the enterprise strategy
• Build the SaaS application based on micro‑services, micro‑frontends, AWS architecture
• Drive technical designs that align with strategic organizational goals
• Contribute and review architectural designs for scalable, extensible distributed systems
• Contribute and review high‑quality, fully‑tested Java code
• Collaborate with senior engineers and leaders across the organization to ensure cross‑functional alignment and interoperability
• Influence technical strategy via research, experimentation, POCs, and prototypes
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers on your team
• Leverage your ability to communicate constructively, courteously, and professionally
• Demonstrate empathy, respect, and fairness in everything you do

The candidate must have a passion to solve hard problems with technical expertise and a growth‑mindset, using strong engineering rigor and data‑driven operational skills to drive the desired outcomes across global teams.

Who you are :

• A hands‑on software engineer with 8+ years experience in software engineering, building scalable and secure distributed systems powering intelligent SaaS applications
• Proficient in Java. Experience with other programming languages (Scala, Python, TypeScript etc.) is a plus
• Experience with engineering software that leverages cloud computing platforms (preferably AWS) and container orchestration (preferably Kubernetes)
• Experience in designing distributed systems
• Experience in building SaaS applications
• Experience in building data‑intensive applications is a plus
• Proficiency with solution discovery and delivery using rapid prototyping, experimentation, and iterative development
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills – can communicate clear technical solutions to complex data problems to both technical and non‑technical audiences
