Join Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) as a state-certified technician in our Quantenmetrologie & Sensorik department. Your role will involve designing, building, and maintaining highly innovative measurement instruments for the exploration of quantum matter, including scanning probe microscopes, ultra‑low temperature and vacuum components.

The position is located in Munich, full‑time (100 %), and is initially fixed for two years with the possibility of a permanent contract.

Aufgaben

• Plan and execute new measurement instruments, such as scanning probe microscopes and associated cryogenic/vacuum components, in cooperation with our engineering team.
• Build new measurement and technology labs together with scientific staff.
• Take responsibility for certain instruments and areas, e.g., helium liquefaction.
• Work practically in the workshop and laboratories.
• Process materials, especially metals.
• Assist with procurement and commissioning of new devices.
• Learn from scientific staff and students with technical operations and repairs.

Profil

• Completed training as a state-certified technician with a focus on physTech, FeinTech, or machineTech, or an equivalent technical qualification.
• Preferably experience with scientific instrumentation, vacuum/components, and cryotechnology.
• Hands‑on experience with lathe, milling, and drilling machines is desirable.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration with international researchers.
• High degree of independence, initiative, responsibility, loyalty, and reliability.
