Staff AI/ML Engineer | AI HealthTech | €40M+ Funding | Berlin (Hybrid)

AI Futures have been exclusively retained to appoint a Staff AI/ML Engineer for one of Europe's most innovative HealthTech scale-ups who have received over €40m in funding and are on a mission to revolutionise how complex and serious diseases are both diagnosed and treated.

This is a rare opportunity to join a Company on the frontier of both Medical Research and AI to build a better future for human kind.

In this role, you will define and drive the architecture of scalable ML platforms that are transforming the world of pathology applications. Through close collaboration with the Berlin-based technology leadership team, you'll implement distributed systems using Python, PyTorch, and Cloud technologies to ensure production-ready solutions for frontier biomedical challenges.

Hybrid: 2 days/week in office. The fixed salary is up to €150k.

The role:

• Define technical architecture and design principles for AI platforms, building flexible frameworks for model training, evaluation, and inference in pathology.
• Provide expert consultation on feasibility, trade-offs, and risks, guiding CTO, product, and engineering leads towards aligned decisions.
• Foster cross-team alignment through shared best practices, design reviews, and initiatives to reduce technical debt.
• Lead mentoring, workshops, and guidelines to elevate engineering capabilities and champion technical excellence.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, drive proof-of-concepts, and advocate for innovations that deliver measurable value in cancer diagnostics.

The Candidate:

• 6+ years' experience in ML with advanced skills in Python, deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and distributed ML systems.
• Strong background in data-intensive software design, MLOps, Cloud and Orchestration tooling.
• Deep knowledge of machine learning, generative models and production deployment.
• Excellent skills in articulating complex concepts, mentoring teams and driving innovation in interdisciplinary environments.
