Join Ashby as a Staff Product Engineer and help build AI‑driven talent‑acquisition software used by companies such as Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake. Ashby is growing rapidly and seeking a full‑stack engineer who thrives on creating product impact, owns projects end‑to‑end, and collaborates across teams.

Overview

Abhik, Ashby’s Co‑Founder and VP of Engineering, is looking for an ambitious engineer focused on solving customer problems with a long‑term vision. As a Staff Product Engineer you’ll own a significant portion of our product, write specs, design wireframes, build features, and hand off polished releases to our product and design teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and ship end‑to‑end product features for the Ashby platform.
  • Write product specifications, create wireframes, and design prototypes.
  • Lead research into market and customer needs to guide feature direction.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Mentor peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Own URLs, APIs, and the overall feature architecture, ensuring the platform can scale.

Ashby is building intelligent recruiting technology that automates tasks like interview scheduling, offer signing, and candidate‑finder tooling. We focus on reducing friction for recruiters, providing real‑time analytics, and creating a seamless candidate experience.

  • Built automated interview scheduling that calculates intersecting times and presents options to candidates.
  • Created a declarative filter architecture that compiles user‑defined filters into SQL queries.
  • Designed a feature that allows users to sign offers within the app, integrating with multiple downstream services.

Collaboration & Communication

Engineering pairs run projects independently but regularly update stakeholders. We keep meetings concise (<2 hrs per week) and value focused, intentional communication.

Our small, highly skilled team achieves what larger teams do over longer timescales by investing in developer tooling (CI/CD, debugger), reusable component libraries, and a design system.

Interview Process

  • Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15‑30 min, live)
  • Technical screen: pair‑programming in the real codebase (1 h, live)
  • Three non‑coding interviews focused on product, design, and infrastructure (≈ 3 h 15 min, live)

Additional 30‑minute recruiter screen may be scheduled. We provide written guidance for each round and offer feedback if no offer is extended.

Your First Three Months

Onboarding is built around shipping a first product change on Day 1. Scope grows from simple updates to full‑feature delivery. Managers conduct 30‑, 60‑, and 90‑day reviews to calibrate performance and progress.

Technology Stack

TypeScript (frontend & backend), React, GraphQL, Node.js, Postgres, Redis. Prior experience is not required; a love of typed languages is helpful.
