Job Description
An international medical technology manufacturer is seeking a Supply Base Project Lead to drive supplier focused projects within a regulated manufacturing environment. The role sits at the intersection of supply chain, procurement, quality and engineering and plays a key part in shaping and stabilising the global supply base.
This position leads supplier transfers, industrialisation activities and ramp up to serial production while maintaining full accountability for cost, continuity of supply and quality compliance. The role requires strong commercial judgement, confident decision making and the ability to lead complex discussions across a matrix organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end to end supply base projects including supplier transfers, industrialisation initiatives and ramp up to serial production
- Define project scope, milestones and timelines related to supplier readiness, capacity and supply continuity
- Act as the central coordination point between supply chain, purchasing, engineering, quality, industrial engineering, logistics, EHS and project management
- Define and execute sourcing strategies for technically complex components and assemblies
- Lead RFQ and RFP activities covering technical feasibility, commercial evaluation, capacity and risk
- Support supplier nomination decisions based on total cost of ownership and long term supply sustainability
- Drive commercial topics including pricing logic, cost breakdowns, target cost models and volume assumptions
- Ensure robust contractual frameworks covering tooling, investments, payment terms and change management
- Coordinate supplier onboarding from prototype and pre series through to serial production
- Ensure supplier capability alignment across quality, compliance, logistics and capacity before SOP
- Manage cost development during transfer and ramp up phases and the commercial impact of engineering changes
- Drive value engineering and cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
- Identify and mitigate supply risks including capacity constraints and single source dependencies
- Define and monitor supplier KPIs related to cost, delivery and ramp up performance
- Support supplier development activities and structured escalation processes where required
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- Degree in supply chain management, engineering, business administration or a comparable technical field
- Minimum five years of experience in supply chain, procurement or supplier development within a manufacturing or regulated environment
- Proven experience leading supplier related projects including supplier transfers or industrialisation
- International experience required with exposure to Germany and ideally Ireland and Switzerland
- Solid commercial understanding with negotiation exposure
- Experience working within cross functional and matrix organisations
- Project management experience preferred
