System Performance Engineer (m/f/d)

As part of the Satellite Systems Engineering department, the System Performance team is responsible for controlling the system performance of our spacecraft from study phases until commissioning in-orbit. As part of our team, you will work in an inter-disciplinary environment in which you can contribute to the overall system architecture of our space missions, coordinate design and development activities related to space system performance and verify the performance requirements by analyses and tests.

Your Tasks

In thisposition, you will work in collaboration with architects and subsystemengineers on tasks like:

• Modelling of the Satellite’s imaging geometry andanalysis of the geometric performances
• Pointing performance engineering on subjects likemicrovibration, thermo-elastic deformation and others.
• Implementation of the performance calibration anddevelopment of the associated software tools.
• Performance testing at various levels (Satellite,Platform, Units) including the test evaluation.
• Algorithm development for data processing andsimulation focused on satellite level aspects such as geometry.
• Implementation and Maintenance of the SatelliteCharacterization and Calibration Database used for the on-ground dataprocessing

Your Qualifications

• University degree in physics, aerospaceengineering, remote sensing, or similar
• Professional experience in one or more of the following categories is advantageous
  • Satellite design, in particular optical and/or radar missions
  • Design & simulation of control systems, multibody systems, mechanisms or similar
  • Geometric performances of Earth observationspace missions
  • End-to-End Simulation of Earth-Observationand/or Science Data
• Experience in programming (e.g. MATLAB, Python)
• Self-managed, solution-oriented and pro-activeworking style
• Ability to work in a team
• Working level proficiency in written and spokenEnglish and German. Other language skills advantageous
• Willingness to work in defense & surveillanceprojects
