Overview

Our client is a large, international aerospace and defence organisation supporting long term, highly strategic programmes within military aviation. They are currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced communication systems within the FCAS programme .

This role sits within a complex, safety critical environment and focuses on system and subsystem architecture, requirements engineering, system analysis, and cross functional coordination across multidisciplinary teams. It is well suited to experienced systems engineers who enjoy working in structured, regulated programmes with high technical depth.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and develop system and subsystem architectures for communication systems within the FCAS programme
• Manage system requirements across the full lifecycle including elicitation, analysis, validation, and traceability
• Apply systems engineering best practices including MBSE approaches
• Perform system level analyses, architectural trade studies, and risk assessments
• Coordinate closely with project management and interdisciplinary engineering teams
• Support integration, verification, and validation activities
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholders
• Contribute to technical documentation, specifications, and project reporting

Essential Requirements (Must Have)

• Completed technical degree in communications engineering, electrical engineering, physics, aerospace engineering, or a comparable discipline
• Proven professional experience as a systems engineer working on complex technical systems
• Experience in project coordination or project management within an engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, including requirements management and MBSE
• Hands on experience with tools such as DOORS and Jira
• Demonstrated experience in requirements engineering with clear traceability practicesAbility to conduct system analyses, architectural evaluations, and risk assessments
• Business fluent German and English
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly
• This is a senior role and is not suitable for graduate or entry level profiles

Desirable Experience (Nice to Have)

• Experience with modern radio or communication technologies
• Background working on aerospace or defence programmes
• Experience supporting system integration and validation activities
• Experience coordinating interdisciplinary or multinational engineering teams
• Strong documentation skills including system specifications and technical reports
