The Role
As Tax Accountant VAT, you will join the European Finance team, collaborating with colleagues across Munich, Madrid, and Cape Town. Reporting to the Director of Finance Europe, you will take ownership of tax compliance and advisory matters across the region, with a strong focus on VAT.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities to ensure compliance, manage tax risks, and support strategic initiatives with tax implications.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and internal teams to prepare corporate income and turnover tax returns in line with local regulations
- Prepare for and support tax audits, acting as a key contact for auditors, tax advisors, and authorities
- Ensure national tax compliance by implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the tax compliance management system
- Advise on complex cross-functional projects with tax implications, including permanent establishment risks
- Support the preparation and implementation of transfer pricing documentation and assist during audits
- Coordinate international tax matters, with a strong focus on VAT, and support internal sales teams
- Identify tax optimization opportunities and potential savings across the organization
- Manage liquidity planning, advance tax payments, and related account reconciliations
- Calculate and present tax provisions according to applicable accounting standards
- Monitor tax law developments across EMEA and proactively advise the business on potential impacts
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tax Law or a related discipline
- Several years of experience in tax consulting or in-house taxation, ideally within a multinational environment or a Big Four firm
- Strong expertise in VAT, corporate tax, and international taxation
- Solid understanding of EMEA tax regulations
- Knowledge of HGB and US GAAP
- Experience with cross-border and foreign trade tax matters
- Exposure to controlling, budgeting, reporting, or auditing is a plus
- Advanced user of MS Excel and SAP
- High level of reliability, ownership, and structured working style
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate complex tax topics into clear business language
- Positive and solution-oriented mindset
- Curiosity and motivation for continuous learning and development

- Fluent English and German
- Additional languages are considered a plus
