Tax Specialist (VAT Focus)

Overview

My client operates in over 20 countries, including the United States, Russia, Germany, France, Hungary, India, China, and Mexico. The company maintains a strong international presence with production and sales locations across these regions.

Responsibilities

• Act as the central contact person for VAT-related issues across departments and with tax authorities.
• Ensure VAT determination within the ERP system; maintain tax codes in close coordination with internal teams.
• Collaborate on specialist projects (e.g., e-invoicing, e-reporting) and take ownership of partial project management responsibilities.
• Drive continuous improvement of VAT processes and tax compliance standards.
• Support the preparation of advance VAT returns, recapitulative statements, and Intrastat declarations for German entities.
• Manage VAT registrations for group companies abroad.

Your profile / Qualifications

• Degree in business administration with a focus on taxation or a commercial qualification (tax clerk, tax specialist, or accountant).
• Several years of professional experience in taxation within an international company, group tax function, or consultancy.
• Excellent knowledge of VAT law; additional knowledge of income taxes or international tax law is advantageous.
• Initial insights or experience with accounting processes are desirable.
• Structured, solution-oriented approach with strong analytical skills.
• Team player with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in German (fluent) and good English skills required.
