Individual Financial Statements Team Lead

Location: Hamburg

Join a dynamic finance team as the Team Lead for Individual Financial Statements, overseeing a skilled group responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting under German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS. This leadership role combines hands‑on accounting expertise with people management, process improvement, and cross‑departmental collaboration.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 6 in General Ledger and Sub‑Ledger accounting, fostering motivation, growth, and support.
• Ensure timely, accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee general ledger, sub‑ledger, account reconciliations, and complex transaction accounting.
• Manage task prioritization and coordination, even during peak periods.
• Promote an open, solution‑focused team culture.
• Collaborate closely with Controlling, Group Accounting, Tax, and external auditors.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and internal controls.
• Contribute to system implementation and accounting standardisation projects.

Your Profile

• Degree in Business Administration or equivalent commercial training; Certified Accountant qualification is a plus.
• 10+ years' finance and accounting experience with initial management responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS accounting standards.
• Proficient SAP user, ideally with S/4HANA experience.
• Excellent analytical skills and confidence in financial statement preparation.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with an empathetic, role‑model approach.
• Resilient, solution‑oriented, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Passion for coaching and developing team members as a trusted sparring partner.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
