Upway is a fast growing startup building the largest marketplace for refurbished e-bikes globally. We have refurbished over 20,000 e-bikes in just two years and are growing fast! We are looking for a Bike Mechanic for our Upway Berlin Refurbishment Centre, currently our largest Centre in the world. The mechanic team repairs a large number of different used e-bikes and refurbishes them to excellent condition, providing Upway’s customers with a vast and high-quality e-bike selection.

We are looking for a Team Lead – E-Bike Mechanics to oversee and guide our mechanics team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards in e-bike refurbishment and repair. As the most experienced mechanic on your team, you will be the go-to expert for technical questions, complex repairs, and process improvements. Additionally, you will be responsible for fostering a positive team culture, ensuring workflow efficiency, and maintaining top-tier quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Full Repair Cycle: You manage the entire process, from initial assessment and inspection to precise fault detection , professional spare parts selection , and the execution of the actual repair .
• Technical Authority: You determine the necessary scope of the repair, making decisions based on technical expertise, not customer requests .
• Quality Assurance: You conduct meticulous quality controls to ensure our customers receive perfectly refurbished e-bikes at all times.
• Expert Input: You contribute your specialized knowledge in hardware and software .
• Continuous Improvement: You actively participate in the ongoing enhancement of our repair processes and the overall quality of our e-bikes.
• Team Collaboration: You are an important team player, contributing your ideas for optimizing the workshop operations and workflows.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Professional Background: You have good experience as a bicycle mechanic, two-wheel mechanic, two-wheel mechatronics technician, or even possess mechanical/craftsmanship experience from a similar field. Ideally, you have completed one of the relevant vocational training programs (apprenticeships).
• Skills & Attitude: You are highly organized and enjoy thorough, independent work.
• Growth Mindset: You enjoy experimenting with new repair processes and continuously improving them.
• Language Skills: You have good proficiency in German and/or English.
