Orbem

Team Lead - Electrical Engineering

Stellenbeschreibung:

As our foundational Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Orbem’s hardware innovation. Joining our Hardware Engineering team, you’ll define and champion best practices in electrical design, driving the development of robust, scalable architectures for our next-generation automated systems. You’ll take full ownership of elevating our electrical platform — from hands‑on circuit and system design to guiding architectural decisions that meet and exceed automation industry standards.

As the role evolves, you’ll transition into building and leading a high-caliber electrical engineering team, setting its long‑term vision and technical strategy. Your work will directly influence the reliability, performance, and innovation of Orbem’s products, creating a lasting impact on the technology we bring to the world.

Your day to day

Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and enhancing electrical systems for complex automation, including creating detailed wiring diagrams and electrical distribution across subsystems.
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to elevate our products, ensuring full compliance with electrical standards in the automation industry (both EU and US markets).
  • Taking ownership of the electrical engineering roadmap, from initial design and validation to long‑term strategy.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and team members, acting as the subject matter expert for all electrical engineering challenges.
  • Building the electrical engineering team from scratch, which includes defining the strategy, hiring a high‑performing team, and securing necessary resources.

  • We imagine new frontiers: we think beyond “doable” and “reasonable”. We design a sustainable and healthy future together.

Skills and Experience

  • Vast experience in electrical engineering, particularly in the (food) automation industry.
  • Proficient in creating and interpreting wiring diagrams and designing electrical distribution boxes, motor control circuits and PLC systems for automation systems (EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCad Electrical).
  • Proven expertise with low and high voltage system design.
  • Demonstrated ability or high potential to mentor and lead a team.
  • Strong collaborative skills and a proactive, "get-it-done" attitude.

What makes you stand out from other candidates

  • Experience with radio frequency (RF) systems.
  • A background working with MRI systems or in the food industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical standards and compliance for both the EU and US markets, e.g. IEC 60204-1
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a strong motivation to solve complex challenges.
  • Excitement and determination to build a new team and function from the ground up.
