THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Lounge by Zalando is an online shopping club for fashion and lifestyle products across Europe. At the core of our high-growth strategy is pricing and assortment optimization. The Principal Analyst in CFA (Customer-Facing Application) team plays a strategic and cross-functional role. You will collaborate closely with Product, UX, Engineering, Data Science, and marketing teams and act as a bridge between technical data outputs and business impact — telling the story behind the numbers. You play a strategic and impactful role by translating complex data into actionable insights that directly shape product direction, customer experience, and long-term business outcomes.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO

  • Use statistical modeling and machine learning to uncover patterns in user behavior and drive deeper product understanding.
  • Give analytical evidence supporting business decisions - investments, roll-out, and/or additional deep-dives.
  • Design, execute, and interpret A/B tests at scale; guide product teams on experiment best practices.
  • Work with key partners in product, engineering, and data science teams to deliver ongoing improvements to the product by independently generating insights, measuring impact and embedding predictive models.
  • Develop and evaluate causal inference models to measure impact beyond traditional A/B tests.
  • Pilot GenAI tools for automating insight generation, summarizing user feedback, or powering smart dashboards.
  • Lead analytical onboarding and mentorship across teams to grow data fluency, strategic decision making and experimentation culture.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have at least 2 years of experience leading cross-functional or analytical teams, mentoring peers, and setting strategic direction within a data or product-driven environment.
  • You have 5+ years of relevant working experience in a data-intensive analytics role where you learned how to work with raw data, such as in Digital Analytics, Product Analytics, or Business Intelligence, preferably in e-commerce.
  • You have a strong knowledge of e-commerce KPIs and how they can be defined and measured across the customer journey.
  • Strong knowledge of advanced analytics and statistical software languages (preferably Python), particularly regarding data clean-up and manipulation.
  • You have a strong knowledge of A/B testing best practices and/or quasi-experimental, and causal inference models.
  • You are very comfortable working with onsite user behaviour data, from defining tracking specifications that capture relevant user actions to generating insights via advanced analytic models.
  • You have experience working with orchestration or automation tools (e.g., Airflow) and are comfortable building or maintaining repeatable reporting pipelines (e.g., Tableau).
  • You have strong communication and data story telling skills and the ability to explain processes, choices, and insights to stakeholders across all levels of seniority and technical background.
