TUM-LSY Open Postdoctoral Position (m/w/d)

Position Overview

Full‑time (100 %, TV‑L E13) post‑doctoral research position in the Robotics Institute Germany (RIG). Focus: Safety, performance and reliability in robot learning.

Project

Safety, Performance and Reliability in Robot Learning (ID: TUEILSY-POSTDOC -RL). Development and validation of safety‑critical, reliable control and decision‑making algorithms on real robotic systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and validate methods addressing safety, performance, reliability of learning‑based control and decision‑making on robots.
Collaborate with the RIG network, academic and industrial partners.
Contribute to joint research activities, publications and surveys.

Requirements

PhD degree (or near completion) in robotics, control, machine learning, or a related field.
Strong publication record demonstrating independent and creative research.
Solid programming experience in C++ and/or Python, familiarity with modern robot‑learning frameworks.
Proven expertise in one or more of robot learning, safety‑critical control, probabilistic modelling, verification, or optimisation.
Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
Prior experience with real robotic systems and deployment of learning‑based controllers.
