Your Role

Illustration • Storytelling • Interface Aesthetics

You take ownership of the visual language of our products.

We are looking for a designer with a strong artistic foundation and a refined aesthetic sense. Someone who thinks visually, sketches ideas before others can describe them, and translates complex concepts into expressive visual narratives.

Our products live in the automotive domain – highly visible, safety-relevant, emotionally charged interfaces. We need someone who can give them personality, clarity and beauty.

You work independently, make strong design decisions, and understand when to challenge, refine or elevate an idea. You bring your strengths actively into the team – without waiting to be asked.

What you will do

• Develop and design complete automotive interface concepts — from early brainstorming and visual exploration to high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes and motion refinement
• Create sketches, storyboards, illustrations and visual studies to shape ideas at an early stage
• Define and evolve the visual language and aesthetic direction of features and products
• Translate complex requirements into clear, coherent and production-ready interface designs
• Collaborate closely with developers and UX designers to ensure design quality in implementation
• Make independent design decisions and justify them with clarity and confidenceTake full ownership of the visual quality and consistency of your work

What you bring

Artistic Strength & Craft

• Strong drawing and illustration skills (digital and/or analog)
• Ability to create expressive sketches, storyboards and visual explorations
• A refined sense of composition, color, typography and visual hierarchy
• A portfolio that shows artistic depth – not just polished UI screens

Visual Thinking

• Ability to think in images before thinking in wireframes
• Talent for turning abstract ideas into tangible visual concepts
• Understanding of how aesthetics influence usability and perception

Independence & Decision Power

• Extremely self-driven and proactive
• Strong instinct for what matters most in a design
• Ability to prioritize and move forward without constant guidance

• Working in the office in Lübeck mainly with occasional remote working

Bonus Points

• Experience in automotive UI / HMI design
• Experience with motion design or interaction animation
• Background in fine arts, illustration or visual storytelling
• Ability to prototype in Figma or similar tools
• Experience in 3D modelling
• Being able to communicate in English mainly and in German and French preferably
