W2 Professorship for Plant Physiology (m/f/d)

With about 17,000 students, more than 300 professorships and around 160 degree programs, the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) is the technical university of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Your tasks include:

You will represent the field of Plant Physiology in research and teaching. You will actively acquire your own external funding and participate in the acquisition of new coordinated programs. In addition to strong basic research, you will develop a focus on applied research. You will represent the subject of Plant Physiology in its entire breadth in the German-language bachelor’s program and develop your own courses in one of the specializations Microbial and Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Cell Biology or Ecology of the English-language master’s program in Biology. You will be actively involved in university committees.

Your profile:

We expect applicants to have an outstanding research record in the field of Plant Physiology, evidenced by relevant publications and visibility in the field. The future professorship should cover the spectrum from basic to applied research. The aim is to strengthen research foci represented in current consortia (TRR175, GRK2737, BioComp, NFDI/DataPLANT) and in future ones (a TRR on mitochondrial and chloroplast homeostasis) and to translate mechanistic understanding into strategies to increase plant resilience. Research projects should promote interdisciplinary cooperations within our technical university, e.g. with the fields of physics, computer science, engineering, or environmental sciences. Continuous acquisition of external funding, special didactic skills and extensive teaching experience are expected.Non-German-speaking applicants are expected to acquire the necessary language skills within a reasonable period of time.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and RPTU advocate a supervision concept in which a high level of presence of teaching staff at the university location is expected.
