Wind Farm Solution Engineer

Job Summary: The Wind Farm Solution Engineer is responsible for providing the technical solutions (please see note). This role is mainly responsible for communicating with clients to obtain and clarify the needs and requirements of the clients, and connect with the teams in headquarter to provide customized solutions. This role is also mainly responsible for supporting front-line sales personnel to complete the communication and promotion of project technical solutions with clients, design institutes, suppliers, etc. The solutions managers will work very closely with the sales manager as front-end customer interfaces. They will also coordinate technical experts and technical teams in Europe and Headquarters in order to provide the best technical proposals for each project and bid. Key Responsibilities: Technical solution design Review customer employer’s requirements and identify adherence, deviations to them. Develop solutions within the company to accommodate full compliance and alignment with customer requests Develop overall technical solutions for international offshore/onshore wind farms, including different aspects (meteorological and oceanographical (metocean) assessment, wind resource assessment, micro-site selection, HVAC/HVDC station site selection (offshore), road planning (onshore), cable planning, wind turbine selection, power generation assessment, tower and foundation design, WTG suitability analysis, wind farm noise/shadow assessment (onshore), economic assessment, etc.), at different stages (feasibility study stage, due diligence stage, bidding stage, FEED stage, etc.). Develop differentiated and customized overall technical solutions tailored to different regional/national laws and regulations, energy policies, and other factors. This includes also supporting bids for Installation, transportation, commissioning and operation & maintenance by working with the correspondent experts in the company. Calculate LCOE (levelized cost of electricity) and CAPEX/OPEX (capital expenditure/operating expenditure) to provide cost optimization solutions. Prepare corresponding assessment reports, site selection reports, planning reports, WTG selection reports, feasibility study reports, etc. Prepare technical bidding documents, technical agreements and other documents. Communication with clients Be the main point of contact for technical topics in the projects assigned. Communicate with clients to obtain and clarify the needs and requirements of the clients and connect with the teams in Europe and China headquarter to provide customized solutions. Answer technical questions and provide communication clarification until closing. Responsible for contract review, identify and resolve technical risks. Technical support Support front-line sales personnel to complete the communication and promotion of project technical solutions with clients, design institutes, suppliers, etc. Support contract negotiation, bidding clarification, etc. Technology innovation Track industry technology trends, put forward solution optimization suggestions, put forward optimization suggestions for cost reduction and efficiency increase, and provide more optimized solutions. Qualifications & Experience: Master’s degree or above in wind energy, renewable energy, fluid mechanics, energy and power engineering, or related disciplines. 5+ years of experience in related field, with responsibility for 3 or more actual projects Proficiency in design overall technical solutions Possessing the ability in related knowledge and skills is preferred, including metocean assessment, micro-siting, onshore and offshore substation sitting, onshore road planning, cable routing, WTG suitability analysis, onshore wind farm noise assessment, power generation assessment, economic assessment, etc. Familiar with wind resource assessment and analysis software such as Windographer, WT, WAsP, WindSim, WindPro, and have certain programming skills to process and analyze relevant data. Experience with project management knowledge and tools (e.g. MS Project). Skills: Ability to work with multi-cultural and international team, to have cooperative willingness, conflict resolution, etc., and to be a good team player. Ability to communicate and express clearly and logically (including both spoken and written communication), understand viewpoints of others quickly and comprehensively. Ability to be customer-oriented, result-oriented. Ability to systematic thinking, structured thinking. Ability to provide logical, targeted and effective report (especially when presenting technical issues to people without a technical background). Ability of fast-learning, self-learning. Ability of problem-solving. Ability of good time management Ability to adapt to the business travel arrangement (about 30% of worktime). Ability of good spoken and written English, especially spoken and written Chinese is preferred. Good personal characteristics, e.g. conscientious, creditable, initiative, self-driven, resilient, anti-pressure.
