The role We’re looking for a Working Student - Application Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Connector Factory team, which oversees the development of software connectors for laboratory instruments. In this role you’ll work closely with our Director of Connector Factory and software engineers on projects that have a real impact on our customers and our product offering. Your work will span many aspects of connector development: preparing and setting up instruments so they can be integrated, helping maintain our demo laboratory, coordinating with vendors, and implementing testing infrastructure for our QA/QC process. Your mission Instrument preparation: configure and prepare laboratory instruments in our demo lab to ensure they are ready for connector development and integration.Hardware logistics: coordinate deliveries and returns of loaned devices, track components, and source supporting materials from vendorsFeature specification: Produce technical documentation that defines instrument capabilities and integration requirements for developersVerification and testing: Perform functional checks on instruments, execute validation procedures, and contribute to the development of test frameworks.Data management: Maintain accurate and detailed instrument records in our internal database, building a central source of truth that integrates with our website and product ecosystem.Lab operations: Support the day-to-day operation of the demo lab and connector testing environment, ensuring reliability and availability of hardware. Your profile Technical interest: some experience in a programming language e.g. Python and a strong interest in learning more.Hands-on mindset: Comfortable setting up hardware and troubleshooting issuesOrganised: Able to track instruments, parts, and documents accuratelyIndependent worker: Compatible of working on your own initiative, managing tasks asynchronously with support from your managerBuilder mentality; You learn by doing, are proactive, and like figuring things out.Communication: Strong written and verbal skills to produce clear documentation and work with colleagues.Language skills: Fluent in English; German skills are a plus.Work location: majority of your time will be on-site at our headquarters in Munich, with some remote working when appropriate. Nice to have Background in engineering (software, mechanical, electrical, robotics)Experience with automation, robotics, or testing.Exposure to biotechnology or life sciencesInterest in the future or biotech, automation, and AI About Us UniteLabs offers an operating system for the automation and digitalization of biotech labs that enables the integration of laboratory equipment/software for real-time data collection and the implementation of AI-supported workflows to optimize R&D processes.
