Xiaomi EV - Junior CMF Designer(A62825)

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Junior CMF Designer to join our Munich-based satellite design studio for a rapidly growing Chinese EV brand with strong links to the technology industry.

In this role, you will support the development of Color, Materials, and Finishes strategies for both interior and exterior applications, helping to define the brand’s unique visual and tactile identity. Working alongside CMF, interior, and exterior design teams in Munich and headquarters in China, you will contribute to projects from concept creation through to production implementation.

Responsibilities

Creative CMF Development

• Assist in creating innovative CMF concepts aligned with brand vision and market trends.
• Support in selecting and specifying colors, materials, and finishes for production vehicles.
• Develop mood boards, material samples, and visual presentations to communicate CMF ideas.
• Research new materials, textures, and finishes with a focus on sustainability and advanced manufacturing techniques.
• Monitor automotive, fashion, product design, and tech industry trends for CMF inspiration.
• Work closely with interior, exterior, and UX teams to ensure CMF proposals integrate seamlessly into vehicle designs.
• Support CMF team in preparing presentations for internal reviews and global stakeholders.
• Assist with supplier communications, sample procurement, and quality checks.

Prototyping & Implementation

• Help prepare CMF mock-ups and prototypes for design reviews.
• Support translation of CMF concepts into production-feasible specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, Textile Design, or a related creative field.
• 0–2 years’ experience in CMF design (automotive or product design environment).
• Strong sense of color harmony, material tactility, and finish quality.
• Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong visualization and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English; strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred

• Knowledge of automotive CMF development processes and supplier coordination.
• Experience in 3D visualization tools such as KeyShot or VRED.
• Understanding of sustainable materials and processes.
• Knowledge of German and/or Mandarin.
• Creativity: Brings fresh, trend-aware ideas to CMF development.
• Attention to Detail: Maintains high standards in visual and tactile quality.
• Collaboration: Works effectively within multidisciplinary design teams.
• Curiosity: Actively researches emerging materials, finishes, and technologies.
