We are looking for a Data Centre System Administrator to monitor, configure and maintain Windows Server operating systems and hardware in the data centre environment (HP, Cisco UCS). The role includes supporting and optimising central Windows services (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, SQL Server, IIS) and processing second-level service requests. You will develop cloud and high-availability solutions and implement systems in private and public cloud environments. You will create performance analyses, perform error analyses and troubleshooting, and derive optimisations for operating systems, hardware and processes. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure 24/7 operation of the production systems, plan and document server resources, and support cross-departmental projects.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, configure and maintain Windows Server operating systems and hardware in the data centre environment (HP, Cisco UCS).
- Support and optimise central Windows services (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, SQL Server, IIS) and process second-level service requests.
- Further develop cloud and high-availability solutions and implement systems in private and public cloud environments.
- Create performance analyses, perform error analyses and troubleshooting, and derive optimisations for operating systems, hardware and processes.
- Ensure 24/7 operation of the production systems, plan and document server resources, and support cross-departmental projects.
You bring along
- Completed training in the IT field (e.g., IT specialist for system integration) or a degree (computer science, business informatics) with at least five years of experience in operating 24/7 production systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows Server administration (AD, GPO, DHCP, DNS, file and print services), WSUS and Windows clients.
- Experience with configuration, installation and support of virtualised infrastructures (e.g., VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, cluster and cloud solutions). Knowledge of Cisco network environment; certificates such as MCSA, MCSE or MCITP are desirable.
- Motivated team player who works independently and proactively and maintains composure in stressful situations to contribute to operational reliability.
- Confident communication in German and English and willingness to collaborate with international colleagues.
