Job Overview

We are looking for a Trainee Engineer to support our Engineering team at EUMETSAT, based in Darmstadt. This position would expose you to the different aspect of Spacecraft Operations of the Copernicus mission at EUMETSAT. You would be fully involve in the training exercises and it is expected that this position would culminate into a full time Spacecraft Operations Engineer (SOE) in near future.

This position is ideally suited for a young graduate/Spacon/Analyst.

The position is full-time and permanent with the earliest starting date of 1 September 2025

Key Responsibilities

• Perform the Training exercises as defined by the customer in the framework of our COP SOE services i.e. On-call training, S/S training, Payload training etc.
• Support the SOE team in tasks as desired by the Service Level Manager and the Group Leader
• Perform certification in assigned areas as defined by the SLM/Group Leader
• Perform Cross trainings between the missions as required.

Typical SOE tasks are (but not limited to):

• Conducting routine and special operations of the satellites.
• Monitoring the satellites' subsystems and instruments and analysing their performance and trends.
• Investigating satellite anomalies and preparing and executing recovery operations.
• Maintaining operations documentation and flight procedures.
• Identifying and supporting the implementation of system and process improvements in the team.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Some knowledge of Spacecraft operations, thought not a must
