🚀 Leadership Role: VP of Engineering - AI Startup - Early-Stage - Berlin - Competitive Base + Equity
We’re partnering with a mission-driven, VC-backed AI startup at the forefront of redefining how businesses leverage artificial intelligence. After securing a strong Seed/Series A round from top investors, they are now building their foundational leadership team and are looking for a visionary VP of Engineering to lead the charge.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven products from the ground up. You’ll have full ownership over the engineering org, from strategy to execution, and play a critical role in scaling a category-defining company.


🔧 What You’ll Do
• Build and scale the engineering function from early hires to high-performance, cross-functional teams.
• Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for our AI platform and products.
• Work hand-in-hand with Product and Design to ship features users love—fast, securely, and at scale.
• Instill engineering excellence through robust processes: CI/CD, testing, documentation, code reviews, and technical debt management.
• Be a hands-on technical leader when needed, while also growing and mentoring senior engineers.
• Drive a strong culture of collaboration, curiosity, and accountability, grounded in our mission.
• Own hiring strategy and help build an inclusive, diverse engineering team that thrives on impact.


🌱 What You’ll Bring
• 7–10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in engineering leadership roles (e.g., Director or VP).
• Proven track record of scaling engineering teams in early or growth-stage startups ideally in deep tech or AI.
• Strong technical depth in modern backend/frontend stacks, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP).
• Experience building and deploying ML/AI products or working closely with research teams is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills you know how to bridge technical and business goals.
• Comfortable making build vs. buy decisions, navigating ambiguity, and prioritizing for impact.
• Passion for emerging tech, fast-paced environments, and creating real-world change with AI.
