Position Overview

Universität Greifswald – Institute for Church Music and Musicology. A W2 Professorship in Musicology, part‑time (50 %) to be filled at the earliest possible date, subject to budgetary approval.

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Represent the field of Musicology in its full breadth through teaching and research.

• Engage in national and international networking (public lectures, publications, projects).

• Foster interdisciplinary dialogue with Digital Humanities, Gender Studies, Medical Humanities, and regional music culture.

• Prepare and teach courses (including English‑language offerings) and contribute to curricula.

• Participate in university governance, internationalisation strategy, and administrative duties.

Qualifications & Requirements

• A completed university degree in Musicology or a comparable field, pedagogical suitability and exceptional scientific competence proven by a PhD and other scholarly achievements (junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent).
• Broad expertise in music history, cultural science methods, and music cultures in regional, global and media contexts.
• Experience in obtaining third‑party funding and willingness to further develop the teaching programme.
• Excellent communication, mediation and team‑working skills, and leadership competence.
• Willingness to teach in English and to contribute to the university’s internationalisation.
• Participation in university committees and enhanced academic self‑management skills.
