Overview

XMM/INTEGRAL Instrument Operations Engineer (f/m/d) at Telespazio Germany, delivering services to ESA/ESOC for the XMM & INTEGRAL missions.

Key Responsibilities

to take over existing operations instrument activities, currently provided by ESAC, and integrate them into the FCT at ESOC.
maintain the instrument procedures (develop, change & test)
maintain the instrument database (develop, change & test)
perform instrument anomaly recoveries
perform special operations support for instruments (eclipse operations, and development of automation activities to streamline the work of the Real-Time-Operations team)
Support the calibration and mission planning teams at ESAC for operations
provision of On-call support
Execute real-time payload operations
Perform maintenance of instruments and observing modes
Perform maintenance of the instrument\'s onboard software
support the instrument health and performance monitoring
Execute offline instrument monitoring/trend analysis
interfacing with instrument Principal Investigators for operational issues

To be a proactive key team member to modernise existing operational activities while transferring them and introducing modern tools, to optimise the processes and operational efficiencies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Telecommunications Engineering
Spacecraft Payload and Platform Subsystem Knowledge
Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
Coordination with other service providers in operations (team player)
Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000
Experience in the generation of Flight Procedures and validation
Familiarity with the ESOC environment.
Familiarity with Satellite Instrument Operations
Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc.
Familiarity with MOIS
Programming knowledge (Python, Bash)
