Job Description

The AH-64 Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 (FAA A&P or FCC) performs maintenance and inspections on AH-64 systems to FAA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance with primary expertise as an AH-64 mechanic, including assembly and modification on a variety of Army and other DoD cross-service aircraft, their major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, and related systems.
  • Install, connect, and adjust complete systems such as fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission; install and align fuselage parts; balance, align, and install tail‑rotor assemblies; rig complete flight‑control systems.
  • Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.
  • Make operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems using external power sources and powered ground equipment.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunctions; disassemble to the point of trouble; adjust, repair, realign or replace defective components or assemblies.
  • Use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches, scales, and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.
  • Determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair or replacement of parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
  • Read, apply and interpret technical data.
  • Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid FAA A&P certificate or FCC License (Elements 1 and 3).
  • Minimum of two (2) years aviation maintenance experience and two (2) years on the assigned AH‑64 MDS Mission Design Series.
  • High‑school graduate or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
  • All experience must be within the five (5) most recent years.
  • US citizenship required to obtain NAC‑I (T‑1) clearance and for base access in Germany.
  • Valid US passport required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance, NAC‑I T1 Public Trust.
  • Interim NACI approval required for deployment.
  • For those lacking an FAA A&P: must possess or be able to obtain an FCC License (Elements 1 and 3) and have at least three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary‑wing aircraft experience and two (2) years on the assigned AH‑64 MDS.
  • TESA approval (German government) – must be able to qualify for TESA approval with five years total aviation maintenance experience.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good communication skills and adaptability.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles to complete all probable work tasks.
  • Knowledge of quality control, production and supply procedures.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 lb; occasionally up to 50 lb.
  • Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.

Compensation

$25.00 per hour (or as specified).
