The British Consulate General in Munich is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. The Consulate General is now looking for an Executive Assistant to the Consul‑General and Project Management Officer, based in Munich.
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is the UK Government's engine for growth, innovation and international collaboration. Our Germany network is one of the largest in Europe, supporting UK companies, attracting investment, and building strategic partnerships across sectors.
You’ll be based at the British Consulate‑General in Munich, working closely with the Consul‑General—who is also the Director of Business & Trade Germany—and collaborating with colleagues across Munich, Berlin, London, and the wider Europe network.
This is a dual‑focused position combining Executive Assistant duties with a strong Project Management Officer function.
As the Executive Assistant (60%), you'll ensure the smooth running of the Consul‑General's office—managing the diary, coordinating briefings, handling enquiries, organising travel and visits, and keeping the Munich office operating efficiently.
As the Project Management Officer (40%), you'll support DBT Germany's strategic operations—coordinating meetings, supporting senior leadership engagement, managing internal documentation, analysing business intelligence, organising events, and ensuring seamless delivery of ministerial and senior visits.
You will be a central part of a high‑performing, international team that values collaboration, quality service, and creativity.
This is a full time (37,5 hours a week), fixed‑term 2 year contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent contract subject to performance and funding. Salary €52,704.- rising to a maximum of approx. €59,202.- gross per annum after a qualifying period in addition to performance related pay (salary is not negotiable). Candidate must have pre‑existing work authorisation in Germany in order to apply.
Staff recruited locally by the British Consulate General are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local German employment law. The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and 6 months probationary period.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Germany and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the legal requirements to live and work in this country.
Start date is an indicative target start date.
