Tasks
- Supervise the overall design direction of material created in the European Artwork & Design department.
- Supervise licensed merchandise and Nintendo merchandise that use Nintendo IP including characters.
- Create new designs and layouts (packaging, PR materials, giveaway goods, event booth displays, etc.) in compliance with global quality standards and a strong appeal to European customers, based on assets prepared by Nintendo Headquarters in Japan.
- Develop a deep understanding of Nintendo quality standards and coordinate design approval with various internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate the license and co‑promotional design approval process between Nintendo and external stakeholders.
- Accelerate the approval process by making design proposals when necessary to communicate adjustment points effectively to suppliers and licensees.
- Educate internal and external partners about Nintendo IP guidelines and rules.
- Perform other administrative and design tasks not related to merchandise approval as assigned by the supervisor.
- Support the development of process documents, guidelines, and training materials for internal and external partners.
Requirements
- University degree in Graphic Design studies or comparable education.
- Several years of professional experience in character merchandise approval and/or merchandise development.
- Several years of professional experience in graphic design creation and/or art direction (character goods, packaging, advertisement, editorial content, logo, font, icons, style guides).
- Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
- Good project management and communication skills, with the capacity to share clear information and give precise instructions.
- Structured working style with strong attention to detail and consistency, in compliance with fixed guidelines.
- Very supportive and teamwork‑oriented mindset and flexibility based on each situation with a wide perspective.
- Strong interest in Nintendo IP, including products and characters, and also in Japanese culture.
Additional Details: Submission of your own portfolio is mandatory. The position requires relocation to Frankfurt am Main, Germany and commuting to the office.
