About the Role

We are seeking an Interim Associate or Senior Reviews Editor to join the Nature Biotechnology editorial team. This role involves working across all aspects of the journal, commissioning Reviews, Perspectives, and opinion pieces, and providing detailed developmental and line-by-line editing. You will organize and manage peer review, write editorial content such as Research Highlights, and support authors in developing clear, accurate, and impactful manuscripts.

This position is a 12-month, full-time contract and can be based in our Berlin or Heidelberg offices in line with Springer Nature’s hybrid working policy.

Role Responsibilities

• Commission Reviews, Perspectives, and opinion pieces.
• Work closely with authors during the writing and revision process, including feedback on synopses, developmental editing of first drafts, and line-by-line editing pre-acceptance.
• Develop ideas for figures and display items.
• Organize and manage peer-review processes.
• Write Research Highlights and other editorial content.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

• PhD in a biotechnology-related discipline.
• Strong writing and editing skills for clarity, accuracy, and language.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Keen attention to detail and the ability to absorb new research areas.
• Ability to identify emerging research trends beyond your immediate specialty.

Desirable:

• Editorial experience is not required; full training will be provided.
