Biopreservatives & Bioacids Scientist (Fermentation) (All Genders)

Overview

BIOWEG is seeking a motivated and hands-on Scientist to drive fermentation-based projects focused on the development of biopreservative and bioacid systems. The role involves working primarily with Lactobacillus strains and contributing to the sustainable valorization of fermentation side streams for applications in the food and cosmetic industries.

Your Role

• Lead and execute fermentation projects involving lactic acid bacteria (especially Lactobacillus) from planning through execution, data analysis, and reporting
• Develop andoptimizebioacidandbiopreservativesolutions for food and cosmetic applications
• Identifyand implement strategies to valorize fermentation side streams and improve process sustainability and product value
• Design, performand monitor laboratory and pilot-scale fermentation experiments, including process optimization and troubleshooting
• Conduct analytical evaluation of fermentation samples, including metabolite profiling and process monitoring
• Analyzeexperimental data and present technical results with clear recommendations and improvement strategies
• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) andsupport their reviewand improvement
• Prepare andmaintaintechnical and quality documentation (e.g., experimental plans, protocols, batch records, validation reports)
• Maintain safe laboratory practices andcomply withinternal safety and regulatory requirements
• Perform and promote aseptic working techniques during microbial cultivation, fermentation,samplingand downstream handling
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, externalpartnersand stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution
• Support process scale-up, technologytransferand continuous improvement initiatives

Your Profile

• PhD orMaster’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, Biochemical Engineering, FoodTechnologyor a related field
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial or applied fermentation projects
• Practical experience with lactic acid bacteria or similar microbial systems strongly preferred
• Solid understanding ofbioacids, microbial preservation systems and their applications in food or cosmetics
• Experience in project management and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Strong knowledge of fermentation process development, optimization and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical skills for fermentation monitoring and product characterization
• Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, including method execution and data interpretation
• Understanding of quality systems, GMP-likedocumentationand regulatory requirementsExpertisein aseptic techniques and microbiological methods
• Structured,proactiveand deadline-oriented working style
• Excellent scientific communication, data presentation and problem-solving skills
