The High Resolution and Automated Microscopy department is part of the Fraunhofer Translational Neuroinflammation and Automated Microscopy TNM, the Göttingen site of the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP.At Fraunhofer TNM, we improve our understanding of the cellular phenotypes of various diseases and identify potential drug targets by combining super-resolution microscopy techniques with genome editing and advanced image analysis.
As a multidisciplinary team of biologists, physicists, and data scientists, we intend to create added value for clinical and pharmacological research by using super-resolution microscopy methods.Modern microscopy techniques, such as STED microscopy, enable the analysis of protein localization and distribution at the nanometer scale.
Thus, previously unknown changes in the structure and dynamics of protein clusters within diseased cells of patients can be investigated.The possibility of detecting clinically relevant abnormalities will contribute to a better understanding of cellular changes in various diseases.
