CAD Engineer- BiW - (m/w/d) - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

Stellenbeschreibung:

What To Expect

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Engineer to join our Body‑in‑White (BiW) Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, modeling, and validating complex manufacturing fixtures and tooling used in the assembly and validation of vehicle body structures. You will work closely with manufacturing, quality, and design teams to ensure that all CAD deliverables meet stringent production requirements, dimensional accuracy, and industry manufacturing standards.

This role requires advanced proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 and SolidWorks, with a strong understanding of GD&T, sheet metal fabrication, welding processes, and assembly line integration.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and develop high‑precision manufacturing fixtures, jigs, and assembly aids for BiW components (e.g., floor assemblies, pillars, side sills, roof structures).
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using CATIA and SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with ISO, ASME Y14.5, and company‑specific standards.
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure dimensional traceability and interchangeability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, tooling suppliers, and production teams to validate fixture designs for ergonomics, accessibility, and manufacturability.
  • Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis and simulation‑based validation (e.g., using CATIA’s GSD or SolidWorks Simulation) to ensure fixture stability and part fit.
  • Maintain version‑controlled CAD data and ensure alignment with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems (e.g., ENOVIA, Windchill).
  • Participate in design reviews, DFMA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), and root cause analysis for tooling‑related issues.
  • Stay current with new CAD tools, automation features (e.g., macros, parametric design), and emerging manufacturing technologies (e.g., robotic welding, automated assembly cells).

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in CAD design within automotive or high‑precision manufacturing environments.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 (especially Part Design, Assembly Design, and Drafting modules).
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (including advanced modeling, assemblies, and drawing standards).
  • Demonstrated experience in designing complex sheet metal and welded fixtures used in vehicle body assembly.
  • In‑depth knowledge of manufacturing standards:
    • ASME Y14.5 (GD&T)
    • ISO 1101 (Geometrical Tolerancing)
    • ISO 2768 (General Tolerances)
    • DIN, JIS, or other regional standards (as applicable)
  • Experience with tolerance analysis, kinematic analysis, and fixture clamping strategies.
  • Strong understanding of welding, stamping, and press‑fit assembly processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.

Tools & Systems

  • CAD Software: CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks
  • PLM Systems: ENOVIA, Windchill, or similar
  • Simulation Tools: SolidWorks Simulation, CATIA GSD, FEA (optional)
  • Data Management: PDM, ERP integration (e.g., SAP)
