Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities as a Camp Counsellor

YoYo Camps offers English, French, and Spanish holiday camps for German children aged 6 to 15. Languages are not taught in the classroom, but instead through an informal setting of fun activities led in English, Spanish, or French. Our campsites are located in Germany, in and around Berlin and Lower Saxony. Summer camps run from the beginning of July to the end of August. This is a full-time position and the salary is based on the minimum wage of Germany. An extended criminal record check and a First Aid Certificate are required.

Your daily activities revolve around working at either Day or Overnight Camps in different locations across Berlin, Brandenburg & Lower Saxony. You will work in more than one campsite and see other parts of Germany and your accommodation will either be provided in proximity to the camps (Day camps) or onsite (for Overnight camps).

During your time at the camps, you will be responsible for looking after the kids and have a duty of care for them. The focus of your role is to teach them the language through immersion, interaction, activities, and games. You will also have lots of fun! Meals will be provided at the camps, and when you live offsite, there will be cooking/ washing facilities also.

During Day Camps, your hours of work will be from approximately 9-5 pm, and during the Overnight camps, you will be there all day. However, you will share the responsibility of the kids with your fellow counsellors, so you can also get a break!

Requirements

• are enthusiastic and passionate about working with kids!!!
• are a native speaker or have native-level English, Spanish, or French (according to your camps)
• are able to take part in training camp. This is mandatory for all new counsellors and takes place at the end of June. After this, you must be available to take part in the summer camps between July 5th and August 21st, 2026
• have knowledge or some experience in camp life, working with children, and/or teaching English
• are responsible and reliable, and have excellent communication and organisational skills
• are creative and spontaneous, and inspire and motivate children
• if you have any specific skills, such as graffiti, dance, acrobatics, music teaching, theatre, or any other skill that you want to implement in the camps, please let us know!
• IMPORTANT: You need a visa for Germany as well as a work permit (except if you are an EU citizen)! A work permit is easy to get if you are a university student during your summer holidays. If you are not a student, we can only offer you a freelance contract. Unfortunately, if you are not an EU citizen, there (nearly) no chance of getting a work visa as a freelancer. Therefore, we can only hire EU citizens or students! In addition to the valid visa and work permit, you'll need an extended criminal record check and a first aid certificate. Normally, it takes up to three months to arrange all the paperwork. We need all documents by the end of March 2026.
