Chief Production Officer

Hartmann Young is partnered with a a fast-growing, international pet and human food manufacturing group, built through acquisition and now entering its next phase of operational integration, optimisation, and scale.

We are seeking an experienced Chief Production Officer to lead production, logistics, and buying across a complex, multi-site manufacturing network. This role sits on the Group Leadership Team and will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, cost discipline, and long-term scalability.

The Role As CPO, you will take full ownership of the group’s production and supply operations, with a mandate to integrate sites, improve performance, and restore profitability where required.

Key responsibilities include: Leading and developing production, logistics, and procurement across multiple international manufacturing sites Integrating and optimising acquired facilities into a cohesive, high-performing network Driving cost reduction, productivity improvement, and margin recovery across operations Leading turnaround situations in underperforming or loss-making sites Ensuring best-in-class quality assurance, food safety, and compliance standards Owning raw material and packaging procurement, delivering cost transparency, control, and best-in-market pricing Establishing robust operational governance, structure, and performance management Translating group strategy into hands-on execution, while building scalable processes and systems Acting as a core member of the Group Leadership Team, contributing to overall business strategy and growth

Background & Experience Minimum 10 years’ experience in food manufacturing Proven leadership of large, multi-disciplinary operational teams Demonstrated success integrating and optimising multiple production sites Strong track record in cost reduction and operational efficiency programmes Experience operating within complex, international manufacturing environments Solid background in raw material and packaging procurement Strong understanding of quality assurance and food safety frameworks Proven experience in turning around underperforming operations Logistics experience highly advantageous
