Role Overview

As a Cloud Architect at JTL, you shape the strategic direction and further development of our cloud architecture with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure . You design scalable, secure, resilient, and economically sustainable cloud platforms that form the backbone of our products, platforms, and internal systems.

In e‑commerce , this means architecture under real extreme conditions: massive load peaks during Black Friday and the Christmas season, the highest requirements for availability and security of sensitive customer and merchant data, and the seamless integration of numerous first‑ and third‑party systems such as payment, shipping, marketplaces, and warehouse logistics. At the same time, you lay the architectural foundation for the e‑commerce of tomorrow in an increasingly AI‑driven world .

In close collaboration with software development, DevOps, security, and IT operations, you define target architectures, migration paths, and binding architecture standards. You combine deep cloud and infrastructure expertise with architectural thinking, automation, and operational reality. For you, cloud is not a one‑off project but a strategic platform for sustainable growth and scalability.

Within the JTL Group, you work together with other experts to build and continuously evolve a central cloud platform. You support this platform end to end—from conception and implementation through to stable operation.

As a Cloud Architect, you keep an eye on technological trends and best practices, continuously develop your own skills, and actively bring new impulses from the cloud and tech community into JTL. Responsibilities

• You develop Azure target architectures based on cloud‑native technologies and translate business requirements into sustainable architectural and target‑state designs.
• You design multi‑subscription setups as well as network and identity concepts and ensure their sustainable implementation.
• You work with the Cloud Adoption Framework, the Well‑Architected Framework, and landing zone concepts.
• You take high availability, resilience, and hybrid approaches into account in your architectures.
• You implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and establish reusable standards.
• You integrate architectures into CI/CD pipelines and support the development of self‑service platforms.
• You follow a security‑by‑design approach and take responsibility for topics such as IAM, security, and compliance.
• You support migration strategies, cloud transformations, and the modernization of existing systems.
• You consider cost‑by‑design principles and actively support cost optimization (FinOps).
• You create architecture documentation and share knowledge with teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• You have solid Azure expertise and a strong architectural understanding of cloud solutions.
• You think architecturally and holistically and can translate complex requirements into scalable Azure architectures.
• You have hands‑on experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation (IaC).
• Ideally, you hold Azure certifications (e.g. AZ‑104, AZ‑305, or similar).
