As a process engineer, you will play a key role in the further development of the simulation platform and delivery to customers who are manufacturing companies in a variety of domains. You will succeed in this role if you are a motivated individual driven by challenges and can bridge the gap between business requirements, mathematics, and software development to deliver results together with the whole team.

Role Overview

Simreka is seeking a Computational Scientist with a strong background in chemical and process engineering to develop, apply, and enhance physics-based and data-driven models for industrial applications. The role involves working at the intersection of process modeling, numerical methods, and advanced analytics, supporting the development of next-generation simulation and digital engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and validate computational models for chemical and process engineering systems
  • Apply first-principles modeling, numerical methods, and simulation techniques to real-world industrial problems
  • Design and optimize process simulations, including steady-state and dynamic models
  • Collaborate with software developers and domain experts to integrate models into digital platforms and tools
  • Analyze experimental, plant, or simulation data to support model calibration and validation
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and results for internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Simreka’s modeling frameworks and computational workflows

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong understanding of transport phenomena, thermodynamics, reaction engineering, and process systems
  • Experience with computational modeling and simulation tools
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar)
  • Ability to translate engineering problems into mathematical and computational formulations

Preferred / Advantageous Skills

  • Experience in data science, machine learning, or AI techniques applied to engineering problems
  • Familiarity with model-based optimization, surrogate modeling, or hybrid physics–data models
  • Knowledge of scientific computing, numerical solvers, or high-performance computing
  • Experience working with industrial process data and life cycle assessment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
