Content Acquisition and Licensing Manager

What You’ll Be Doing:

Content Sourcing & Market Development:

• Identify and build relationships with publishers, literary agencies, studios, and independent IP owners across Germany and Europe
• Develop a structured pipeline of licensable content across key genres (romance, thriller, fantasy, drama, etc.)
• Track local publishing trends, bestseller lists, and breakout IP signals to proactively source high-potential titles.
• Represent the company at book fairs and industry events (e.g., Frankfurter Buchmesse, Leipzig Book Fair)

Deal Structuring & Negotiation:

• Lead end-to-end licensing negotiations including: Audio rights, Adaptation rights, Multi-language and territory rights, Revenue-share and MG structures
• Evaluate deal economics (advance vs. rev share, performance triggers, exclusivity clauses)
• Partner with legal to close contracts efficiently while protecting long-term IP value
• Ensure deal terms align with content testing frameworks and unit economics
• Assess IP potential using: Audience-market fit, Adaptation feasibility, Cost-to-produce vs. LTV projections
• Work closely with content commissioning and production teams to determine adaptation levels
• Build a diversified slate across blockbuster bets and mid-risk portfolio plays
• Track post-acquisition performance and refine sourcing strategy based on ROI outcomes

Relationship Management & Brand Building

• Become a trusted partner to top-tier publishers and agents in the region
• Develop long-term strategic partnerships beyond one-off deals
• Position the company as a premium adaptation partner that can scale stories into multi-format hits

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years in content licensing, publishing, media partnerships, or studio acquisitions
• Strong network within the German publishing ecosystem (plus broader EU exposure).
• Strong experience in negotiating multi-territory content and licensing deals with solid commercial understanding and deal evaluation skills
• Ability to assess content both creatively and commercially, with excellent stakeholder management and negotiation capabilities
• Fluent in German and English, with experience in audio, OTT, film/TV, publishing, or digital storytelling ecosystems
• Structured, ownership-driven mindset with exposure to fast-paced startup/scale-up environments and emerging AI-led content workflows
