Responsibilities

The Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist ensures the company’s international trade operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with global customs regulations. This role exists to manage critical customs processes, maintain regulatory certifications (like AEO), and support business continuity by resolving urgent trade issues. It directly impacts the company’s ability to move goods across borders without delays or penalties, safeguarding both operational flow and legal compliance.

• Maintain and troubleshoot SAP GTS (Global Trade Services) configurations.
• Ensure correct ZF8/ZF9 setup for UK orders to avoid invoice errors.

AEO Re-assessments

• Lead Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) re-assessments for Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
• Coordinate with 4 Trinseo entities to ensure compliance.

Customs Support

• Provide customs compliance support to Altuglas (2 entities).
• Handle urgent customs issues and inquiries.

Trade Preferences & Master Data

• Manage LTVDs (Long-Term Vendor Declarations) and LTSDs (Long-Term Supplier Declarations).
• Maintain Preferences master data and assign new PEM (Pan-Euro-Med) rules.
• Assign additional customs conditions to newly created materials.

Regulatory Monitoring

• Track and interpret new customs regulations across EMEA.
• Provide guidance and updates to internal stakeholders.

General Customs Advisory

• Respond to internal queries on customs and trade compliance topics.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience: 5+ years in Customs, Trade Compliance, or International Trade.

• Tools: Proficient in SAP GTS; experience with customs documentation and AEO processes.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of EU customs regulations, preferential origin rules, and PEM convention.
• Languages: English (mandatory); Dutch, German, or Italian is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, proactive, able to manage urgent issues independently.
